Communications InstructorI grew up in Claremont, New Hampshire. As a blind child and teenager, I felt very different from the rest of my classmates, and couldn't wait to move out on my own and live in a different city. I attended and graduated from Keene State College, a small liberal-arts college in Keene, New Hampshire with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish in 2010. During my junior year of college, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Seville, Spain; it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. In the fall of 2011, I returned to Spain to work as an assistant English teacher at an elementary school in Palma de Mallorca, where I taught conversational English to children for a year. Upon returning to The U.S. and realizing that something was missing from my life, I decided to attend BLIND, Inc. to learn alternative techniques of blindness. I learned to travel independently, cook, use power tools and a lot of other things that I never thought I would be able to do as a blind person. I gained the confidence I needed, and have had the opportunity to share what I have learned as both an instructor/counselor in The Buddy Program and as a Communications Instructor in the adult ATB program. I have always enjoyed teaching and learning, and I love seeing my students grow in both skills and confidence.
When not teaching, I enjoy traveling, trying new foods, singing, reading, skiing and being outdoors.
